Apex Legends Secrets You Need To Know
Respawn Entertainment has always loved to include Easter eggs and secrets in its games and there is plenty to find here. While the intense nature of the Apex Games might not give you much time to explore and appreciate these little touches, we provide you with all the tips you need to be able to find them.
How To Find The Tribute To Shadie
This is the game’s most touching Easter egg. Lead level designer Jason McCord snuck in a tribute to his dog Shadie, who died during the development of the game. Shadie had been with his family for 10 years and he was devastated. In working through his grief, he decided to create an in-game tribute. “Shadie was out best friend and so I wanted her to live on in this little corner of the map.” He said on Twitter. “It legit makes me feel better to visit this area sometimes.”
You can find the tribute yourself by heading to the market area. This can be a popular zone, so a good idea would be to do it during a match where it is not a hot zone and when you see that no one else is jumping nearby, so you can appreciate it without getting into a fight.
The tribute has a dog plushie sitting on a pillow, with a picture of the real dog in front of it and a picture of McCord and his wife just behind. Players like to pay their respects to Shadie by dropping items from their inventory.
You can also find the dog plushie on the training map, hidden in the mountains. You have to play the training map once before you play online, but you can choose to switch to it at any point by switching to the training map and exploring.
Lastimosa Armory
The Lastimosa Armory (named after Lead 3D Artist Ryan Lastimosa) is a weapons manufacturer that crafts many of the weapons found in Titanfall. Pick up some of the weapons in Apex Legends and you will realise that some are carried over.
The Lastimosa Armory manufactures a number of weapons that appear in the game, including the Longbow DMR, RE-45 Automatic Pistol and two Legendary weapons – the Mastiff Shotgun and Kraper Sniper Rifle.
To prove this, you just have to look closely at the weapons you pick up, where you will see the brand stamped on the stock.
We know that Apex Legends is set in the Titanfall universe, but nowhere is this more apparent that in the selection of weapons.
A Binary Message
If you pick up the PAL 9000 skin for the Peacekeeper shotgun, you might notice a bunch of 1s and 0s stamped on the side of it. Someone with a background in computer science noted that these weren’t just a random string of numbers – it was binary code. Breaking it up into eight-bit chunks and converting the ASCII characters to English, it reveals a startling message: “KILL PATHFINDER”.
It makes sense since the skin’s name is a reference to the HAL-9000, the killer robot in Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. That robot acts in its own self-interest after finding out he will be killed, so it is clear that whoever wields this Peacekeeper wants to stop Pathfinder from becoming too self-aware.
